Jennifer Metts - CCP Event
At our March 2 First Friday Luncheon, we were fortunate to have St. Mary’s parishioner, Robert Hagood, as our speaker. Robert discussed how faith informs his work in youth sports. With a network of coaches and volunteers he is bringing lacrosse to young people across Charleston. One particular area of emphasis is outreach to underprivileged kids in Charleston. Sports can build the qualities of discipline, self-sacrifice, hard-work, and teamwork that reflect Christian character. For more information about Robert’s work in the community, visit Cusabo Nation Lacrosse.

Mary B - Lenten Season - Pope Francis
Pope Francis celebrated Ash Wednesday Mass in the Basilica of Santa Sabina in Rome. As per tradition the ceremony started at the Basilica of St. Anselm where the Pope led a penitential procession to the nearby St. Sabina, marking the beginning Lent, the time of preparation for Holy Week. During the homily which resounded with the invitation to “Pause” in order to look and contemplate, to “See” the real face of Jesus and to “Return” without fear, to experience the healing and reconciling tenderness of God, the Pope said the season of Lent is a time “to remedy the dissonant chords of our Christian life.” Read the entire article by clicking: Pause, See, and Return
Mary B - Inspiring Quotes - St John Paul II
This is not the time to be ashamed of the Gospel. It is the time to preach it from the rooftops. Do not be afraid to break out of comfortable and routine styles of living, in order to take up the challenge of making Christ known in the modern “metropolis.”… In your hands, carry the Cross of Christ. On your lips, the words of Life. In your hearts, the Lord’s saving grace.
Saint John Paul II

Joe Stringer shared his thoughts on alienation and division in the culture on Friday and proposed the Gospel as the Way toward unity and hope.
